The good news is that the Site Preparation Crew (me) is now resident on-site and preparing for the major destruction/construction event on the weekend 19/20-December-2020

The bad news is the Followup Construction Crew (me) that we left on-site after the construction event in November 2019 has done almost nothing on the major constructions. As a result the projects for last year are carried over to this year:

  • 1. Verandah Construction
  • 2. Fencing.

Fortunately, to maintain interest and anticipation, there is an addtional project this year:
  • 3. Dead Tree Felling.
This could be quite exciting as it will possibly result in "The Building" being demolised by any one of four dead trees being felled in the wrong direction.
Should any of the trees be felled in the preferred direction then it would afford an extra frisson of excitement to anyone working on the erection of the last long run of house yard fencing.

The Site Preparation Crew (SPC) has so far dug half a post hole - three holes are required immediately for concreting in three steel strainer posts. I have made it clear to the SPC that this work rate will have to improve dramatically if the concrete around the posts is to have a minimum of ten days to properly cure. This will be necessary if the weekend construction event goes better than expected and we get up to straining up wires on the last two runs of fencing.

The SPC is also not keeping up with the work plan of fitting the long diagonal rafters at the two unfinished corners of the verandah. Fortunately this will not delay the installation of the 21 straight rafters. It is just disappointing that the Followup Construction Crew (FCC) has, instead of sticking to the plan, chosen to socialise, to be heavily involved in the NSW Rural Fire Service and New England Model Railway Club as well as engaging in watering, mowing and general gardening. The FCC has also been seen driving around the countryside with a woman named "Anya". Various excuses have been offered for these deviations from "The Plan". For example they to are telling me that it is important for them to "keep watering the Agapantus so they will be in bloom for the December weekend". Pathetic!

More news as it happens.
